  • My husband and I have gone here for 4 years and really love it. We were not raised Episcopalian, but all are welcome and there are 4 different service types (traditional, casual, Celtic, etc.). Family friendly, great sermons, wonderful people.

  • Really enjoy attending this church on Sunday, its an amazing church and is still worth the commute from the burbs.

I can confirm the gay pastor at this church is a flake. That really is wrong of him to treat someone that way and pull a stunt like that.

It's also pretty sad that people feel a need to try to get reviews deleted or post opposing comments to try to discredit other reviewers. Not at all Christian behavior! It's obvious based on the chronology that some of these people followed on the coattails of the bad review.

I don't go to this church nor will I. It's in Hyde Park, and the people there are kind of uppity anyway, which is again not Christian behavior. However, I believe the pastor you're referring to either retired or went to the Diocese (and therefore is no longer at the church).

I actually met one of the pastors at a gay bar. He struck up a conversation with me, which he solicited and led to him soliciting an email address exchange. Really, I was sitting there minding my own business when he decided to strike up a conversation. When I reached out to him later, I received the equivalent of a blow-off. Future connections were left to chance, so I don't know why he wanted my email address. Then, I also was not acknowledged several times running into him at later dates. When I called him out on it, I received a response that was not pastoral. Gay people can be flaky even if they are pastors. The experience was enough to dissuade me from ever visiting this church. I thought it was in very poor taste for a Man of God to behave like this.

Instead of accepting responsibility, someone affiliated with the church flagged and had my review removed from Yelp.......I think it might have been this reviewer that came a few days after me.
