  It's be wonderful to raise a family at St. Gertrude over the past 16-years. There really is no place like it that we've come across. The Dominican friars and sisters along with so many faithful families inspire us to seek Jesus and love our neighbors. Praise God for St. Gertrude Parish!

  This Church was a dream when I first went there. They took the mass seriously and I felt at home. I took part in the young adult group, went to Adoration, got involved as a lector. The whole nine yards.
  
  Then I tried to get married to my fiancee there. Both of the married couples we met with were kind to our faces but gave bad reports on us behind our backs to the priest. It was never adequately explained to us what happened and why we were doing so poorly. We met with the priest and the married couples for months without anyone warning us that something was seriously wrong - just minor things were brought up to us that we felt we resolved well and heard nothing to the contrary. Nothing! Just "concerns" that they would never explain. We were never unchaste or lived together, so we knew that it couldn't be that. We agreed on everything, my fiancee and I.
  
  Father met with us and said he had to take our wedding date off the books because of what these couples had said (again, without explanation). He told us we had to see psychologists and have them sign papers saying we were mentally fit to marry, implying we have some kind of mental defect...? We've both graduated college. Father even refused to return our deposit when we said there was no way we would follow through.
  
  We were crushed. Family and Catholic friends told us to get married somewhere else, one of whom is my fiancee's spiritual director (a priest). We followed this advice and have never looked back. We're even getting along better since we left St. Gertrude's.
  
  That was my experience. I pray no one else ever has to go through that, but I have heard that there have been other couples like us, faithful Catholics, who have had the same experience at St. Gertrude's. Do not marry here!
